Post II:

Yup, second post. For those of you without fingers or devoid of the proverbial abacus, that is two posts in under an hour. A remarkable feat by any and proud of it. I know most of you are saying, "But Ben, you just started blogging. Don't you think you should slow down. You know, baby steps, until you can get a full understanding on what it is to blog and become cognizant of the affects your posts can have." And I say to you, THIS IS BLOGGING. Isn't it? Is blogging not an unrestrained release of emotions, ideas and utterances. Don't answer. I know it is. I've read blogs, they all contain a relentless rant of subjective positions to fashion, or feelings towards politics and global occurrences, or blabbering's of some idiots latest sexcapade or recent trip to six-flags newest concession stand. No, I'm not talking about any of these, but what I am doing is ranting, and relentlessly ranting at that.

But for now, for this post, the question that I have to pose to all of you out there reading this, all two of you, is what the fuck? What the fuck is happening to our world? Yes, many things are spinning our of control, but that one thing that has gone the most haywire, and I believe many could agree, is the arts. Old art forms, predominately consisting of aesthetics, harmony, and completeness, are being curbed for the more mundane and mediocre. What talent does it take to sing a song masked by auto tune, or create a song that is ripped from musicians who once created those melodies through their instruments.  What is it to be born with a perfect bone structure, yet be void of any theatrical dexterity, and become a iconic actor? Do any of these necessitate a true talent or skill. No. They don't.
I contend that advances in technology, leading to languidness, and societies hunger for beautiful people - by which measures qualify this, I don't know - are what escort people to the apogee of the social elite. That is, technology can make any necessity of talent - be it singing, acting, modeling, drawing, sculpting, etc. - obsolete, and all that is required in place of those forgone skills is good looks.

Personally, as this is my personal blog and I can say what ever the fuck I want to say, I would like to see this world regress back to when talent was a commodity. Back when you didn't have to see the person to be enthralled by them, and only had to hear their voice through the radio, see their art in a museum, hear their music in an amphitheater, or read their ideas and feelings in a back, back when all that was necessary was their actual talent that they had worked hard for to achieved.

Regress commonly holds a negative connotation, particularly in this fast moving, ever advancing world, but I a regression such as this would be a benevolent occurrence. What do you think?
